In a nutshell, The Nut is a coffee shop. 

But, if you stay a while, you’ll see we’re so much more. We’re your spot for locally made drinks, eats, and goods. We are passionate about supporting local and stock items made locally. We’re a hub built for gathering and an incubator of community.  

So you see, you can try to put us in a box, but we won’t fit in it. Stay long enough, and we’ll make a Nut out of you.

Whether its a small meeting or gathering with friends or a big event, we can support you. We have coffee travelers for 10 people up to 300 people! We provide all the fixings and any pre-packaged snacks or food required. Our full menu is available for pre-order to be added to your event catering.

Did you know the coffee shop is available for rent after business hours? You get use of the space and a private barista to serve you our menu & coffee bar offerings. Perfect for meetings, workshops, gatherings and meet/greets.

Jessica Saial makes the now or never decision, along with her husband Jason during the COVID pandemic to exchange her life as a Baroness on Bay Street to become a Barista in BC. This is the journey as it unfolds.

This is where is all began….

It started with a husband and wife who lived in Toronto, working hard to build an all around good life, who hoped to retire on the West Coast someday. In late 2019, they welcomed their daughter to the family, and a few months later COVID hit. It didn’t take long for them to realize that they weren’t happy. What were they waiting for? They listed their house and bought a home in Maple Ridge, BC.

After settling in, it quickly became clear the city was missing a little piece of home for them. Jason challenged Jessica to open a place of her own, and she boldly went for it. Not being a maker of things, she looked to the community to build her product base. Curating a shop filled with everything she loved by talented local makers with a focus on community, connection and impact. Here her passion project was born, and the rest is history.
